Is Saran Wrap a Home Schoolin' Expenditure?

It's always funny to hear people's reaction after they ask me the infamous question:

Where will all your boys go to school this year?

Maybe it's because I'm a public school teacher...
Maybe it's because I'm nuts...

but when I tell people that Kyle is staying at his private school for Jr. High, and that the younger 2 will go to the new charter school, and that I'm going to home school AJ for fourth grade this year...

you'd think I've just walked outside naked, wrapped in saran wrap, sucking my thumb.

Because that's the response I get...

Well...

I may wind up wrapped in saran wrap sucking my thumb under some desk somewhere (I'm hoping to spare you all the naked part)... by the time it's all said and done---

but I know it's only temporary...

and I know this is what's best for each of my boys individually...

So even though I wish they we're a little more "convenient" in terms of their collective needs... I'll just have to stay on my knees this year and pray that the boys have enough patience with me as we take this ride...

either way... it's gonna be an adventure!

And I really am excited about this year getting started (Provided it's colored saran wrap I end up in of course).

I. can. not imagine.
Having four boys or four boys at different schools.
You. are. amazing.
Good Luck with the school year!

You are just an amazing parent doing what's best for your children even if it's not the easiest way for you. Good luck this year!!

Oh, and if it makes you feel better, my husband teaches at the public high school and our boys go to Catholic grade school. We get questioned about that but honestly there are a lot of teachers in that same position.

There was even a public school PRINCIPAL a few years back that had his wife homeschool all 5 of his children.

That is so great that you are accomodating all of your kids learning needs. It will be a great year, and if you do the saran wrap thing, you won't have to worry about picking out your outfits in the morning. One less thing to think about!

It sounds like you will have a very busy year! What a great mom you are to do what works best for each of your boys!

The time will go fast. As a mom we have to do what is best for each of our kids. It sound like that is what you are doing and it will all work out fine.

Yes, I would think Saran Wrap would be a legitimate homeschooling expense!

I wish I had the patience to home school, my 2nd grader would be a good candidate.

Each child has different needs. I admire your stamina! (You're not still teaching at a school, are you?)

Your boys are so lucky to have you. You really seem to know what their individual needs are and willing to sacrifice convenience for their best. Good for you! And good luck! :)

I think you sound like a great mom! Just because we have more than one child doesn't mean we should have to make life convenient when we know what is best for the kiddos. How are you going to homeschool and teach too? I'm lost there ;P

Yes!! It would be an expense!! You go girl... you are going to do great!! You need to visit fellow homeschool blogger, Kat... at Sunshine and Lemonade. Go to my blog and you can see her link on my favorites. She's got great ideas and could answer any questions!! ~Jill :)

I admire you for choosing the right path for each of your boys. No one knows them better than you (besides God of course, but that's a given). I wish you the best in your homeschooling ventures. That's something I'd like to look into when we get to that point. Thanks for stopping by earlier and leaving some comment love!

Each child is SO different and only you know what is best for them. I think it's great you are so willing and able to accommodate each one of their needs.

More power to ya!

I am glad you aren't just resorting to what is convenient. You know the needs of your children and others can just go pick they're nose or something.

Good for you for trying to fit each child's unique needs! So many parents don't bother, or it doesn't even occur to them...

I personally know a few public school teachers who DO NOT have their kids in public school.

I hope yours all have a great year!

Wow! You are amazing to attempt that. I am sure you will do it all well without a hitch. You are awesome to do what needs to be done even if it's not convienent for you. Not too many moms these days will do that.

You go girl! And I am still laughing about the saran wrap!

It DOES sound kinda crazy from this "don't inconvenience me" mom. I think it is great that you are doing what is best for EACH kid.

Oh my girl. Just stay calm and focused, and you'll be fine! How in the world are you home schooling when you work? You're not gonna have time to go shoe shopping anymore.... :)

I love how you are doing what's best for EACH son individually. How lucky the boys are to have parents like you.

Have fun with the SARAN!

We don't have home schooling in Australia but I really like the idea. Especiallly as my four boys are all on totally different levels of learning.

Go for it.

Misty said...

Being the excellent mother you are, you're brave enough to do what is best (and maybe not easiest for you) for the boys. Cheering you on.....

What a great mom you are!
You'll do great with homeschooling too! We love it. :)
I can't imagine having them in different schools - you go girl!

I think that is great--all kids, even our own, have different needs and personalities.

I wish I had some good tips for homeschooling like you asked but all I can really advice is PRAY alone and then with your child before everyday. Schedules can help too :)
